This EGM provides accessible evidence and gaps on the typology of infrastructural interventions that support nutritious diets, women’s economic empowerment, and gender equality outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The evidence in the EGM is mostly impact and summative evaluations that relied on non-experimental study designs. The key finding that the EGM did not identify any experimental studies using randomized control trials is an important research gap requiring future research since randomized evaluations generate rigorous evidence for policy making. The few systematic reviews without meta-analyses point to an important research gap.
