Summary

In many developing countries, a significant proportion of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihoods, with agriculture often contributing significantly to the national GDP. However, challenges such as low productivity, exacerbated by changing rainfall patterns, hinder the sector’s potential for food security, gender empowerment, and overall welfare. Small-scale irrigation projects have been actively promoted to help in addressing these challenges and enhance agricultural production.
