The Evidence and Gap Map categorizes studies based on:

The type of intervention (e.g, production, post-production, distribution, and information infrastructure). These categories represent the rows.

The outcomes studied (e.g., nutrition, women’s economic empowerment, and gender equality). These categories represent the columns.

When a study investigates how an intervention (such as irrigation) impacts a specific outcome (like women’s income and employment), it is placed in the corresponding cell. Each study examining the intervention's effect on that outcome is represented by a bubble (or square, depending on the visualization format).
