Amos Mensah

Dr. Amos Mensah is a lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness & Extension (DAEAE) - College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), KNUST Ghana. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the Georg-August University Göttingen in Germany. He also graduated with a Master of Science degree in Tropical and International Agriculture with a Specialization in Socioeconomics of Rural Development from the same university. Prior to these, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) degree in Agricultural Science from KNUST, Ghana. He has over 15 years of professional experience in the agriculture sector, working as a consultant, researcher and public advocate for policy improvement geared towards inclusive rural development.

Dr. Mensah is the general secretary of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economics (GAAE) and the Coordinator of the Sustainable & Integrated Rural Development (SIRDA) Program at KNUST and Greening Africa Together Ghana (GATO Gh). As a member of the KNUST counselling team, Dr. Mensah conducts counselling and mentorship advisory service to students on various topics ranging from time management & handling academic pressure, carrier choice & preparation, psychological, mental and emotional health issues, community engagement and leadership roles. Dr. Mensah has always been excited and passionate about teaching and mentoring students throughout his professional career.

Motivation in Life and Career:

Dr. Mensah is passionate about the exploitation and application of real-life tools & practices that enhance student progress as well as the general welfare of the farm-households across Ghana. He is motivated by contributing to scientific knowledge sharing that enhances sustainable agricultural value-chain development across Africa. He sees his contribution to knowledge as a great opportunity to enhance the welfare of the majority of farmers scatted across the predominantly agrarian society in Africa.
