Okoruwa, Victor, O. is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria. His field of interest includes Agricultural Policy, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Impact Evaluation.
He was once a research fellow with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Ibadan, Nigeria (1991-1993), a visiting scientist to the same organization in 2003 and to WARDA (now AfricaRice) in 2008. He was also a visiting lecturer to the Collaborative PhD Programme (CPP) of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Nairobi, Kenya in 2004, a visiting lecturer to Collaborative Masters in Applied Agricultural Economics (CMAAE) programme in University of Pretoria South Africa from 2006 to 2015, and a guest lecturer for a short course on economic modeling on food security analysis in Universities of Nairobi Kenya (2015) and Abomey Calavi, Republic of Benin (2016) respectively.
Prof. Okoruwa has participated in several multidisciplinary research work with both International and Local research organizations/institutions including International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Department for International Development (DfID), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), National Centre for Economic Management and Administration (NCEMA) and AfricaRice. He spearheaded and completed a study for ReSAKSS West Africa on rice maize stratification and competitiveness in Nigeria. He was also the lead consultant to IITA in conducting an impact assessment and evaluation study on CAPRO II project on soybean in Kano and Benue States in Nigeria and cassava value chain in Nigeria respectively.
He has published extensively in both International and Local journals and has to his credit over 150 publications and has supervised numerous B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. students in his field. The University work experience of Prof. Victor O. Okoruwa commenced in the year 1993 when he joined the services of University of Ibadan where he became the Head, Department of Agricultural Economics, from 2008 to 2014, Director of Academic Planning for the university from 2016 to 2024 and a member of the University Senate till date. He is a member of International and Local Associations and Networks including the International Association Agricultural Economists (IAAE), Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA), African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), Africa Australia University Network (AAUN), Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economics (NAAE) and African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).
