Simon Gicheha is a Program Officer at ICED serving as the Regional Hub Manager for the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Legumes Systems Research in East & Southern Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Justus-Liebig University, in Germany.
He is also involved in research projects in horticulture and climate change, which places him in a conversation space with actors in a variety of agricultural value chains towards evidence generation and synthesis. His previous work includes working with rural smallholder farmers in support of adoption of sustainable agricultural intensification practices, rural markets improvement, institutional arrangements and performance and agricultural risks.
Inspired by results, Simon’s strong interest in the non-profit sector draws from his inspiration to use accumulated knowledge and skills to make a greater impact on communities, beyond the expected returns from the reward systems.
He brings his interest in agriculture to his personal life by gardening in his leisure time.
