Assan Ng’ombe is a Senior Specialist on Resilience and Climate Change in Agrifood Systems. He is an international development expert with over 20 years of professional experience in Africa having held several positions of responsibility, across Africa, in the United Nations, Pan-African Non-Governmental Organisations and in the banking sector. Of note, has been his work in developing and managing programmes and provision of thought leadership on resilience building in agrifood systems. Other areas of expertise include protected areas management, environment and social safeguards, policy and institutional development, and climate governance and policy.
In recent months, Assan has been leading a team of experts in AGRA’s pioneering work on the Reduction of Food Loss as a Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy in partnership with the Green Climate Fund. He is passionate about learning and sharing knowledge on Africa’s development pathways and experiences. In his spare time Assan is an ardent hiker and shows interest in multiple indoor and outdoor sports disciplines.
