Bio

Alaine Johnson is a Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellow with ACDI/VOCA in Tamale on the MSR project monitoring environmental initiatives. She has a MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies focusing on Development, Climate, and Sustainability. As a development professional and agrarian scholar, her work focuses on organic agri-food systems, natural resources and conservation, and regenerative agriculture.

Alaine grew up in Seattle and then lived overseas for 12 years in Singapore, India, Indonesia, Eswatini, Philippines, and Thailand, and worked in carbon accounting, coffee production and research, social work, and before that in a tech startup and as a journalist. She was part of the second pioneering class at Yale-NUS College in Singapore, graduating with a BA in Environmental Studies, and before that she was a Shelby Davis Scholar at the United World College of Southern Africa
