The World Bank in its quest to help Ghana address the challenges confronting the tourism sector and create an enabling environment to crowd-in private sector investment, and thus maximize finance for development is funding the implementation the Ghana Tourism Development Project (GTDP). The Project seeks to de-risk the sector by addressing major constraints in tourism’s enabling environment; improving the quality of sites and destinations and enabling private development, management, and financing of these sites through matching grants; and supporting private solutions to innovation and creativity within the sector. In line with the dictates of the GTDP, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC), commissioned a baseline study to establish the current data status of the component 2 of the project which seeks to diversify the leisure tourism offering in Ghana by identifying and upgrading the most promising destination areas. The study used non-probabilistic sampling techniques to investigate the facilities at 18 selected tourist sites and destinations, project delivery, quality of services and the utilization of services, among, others. This result presents the key findings of the survey, conclusions and recommendations.
